How to use it

  1. Pick a chip set or enter the chips you own by colour, value and count. If your chips have no fixed values, leave it on «Colours only · values assigned» — values are assigned from the top row down: 25 → 100 → 500 …
  2. Set the number of players and the starting stack. Enter the stack in big blinds (bb), or in «Enter values» mode as the total chip value per player.
  3. Read off the chips per player, the chips used and left over, and the starting blinds. Change the number of chip colours or the count of the lowest and highest chips to fine-tune the stack.

Frequently asked questions

How many big blinds should a home game starting stack be?

Home games that finish in a few hours usually start with 50–100 bb; tournaments with more time to play often use 100–200 bb. Deeper stacks take longer, so set the stack together with the level length in the tournament timer.

How is the smallest chip decided?

The small blind is set to one of the smallest chips. The big blind is twice that, and the starting blinds are shown with the result.

What if the chips can’t be split the same way for everyone?

If the chip counts don’t divide evenly by the number of players, the calculator splits the stacks into two or three builds. The chip mix differs, but every player gets the same total value.

Are my chip sets saved?

Yes. Your changes to each chip set are remembered in this browser, and the ↺ button resets just that set to its defaults.
