How it’s calculated

When every possible deal of the unknown cards can be counted in about a second — two known hands preflop (1,712,304 boards), or one random hand on the flop — every deal is counted and the result is exact. Otherwise the remaining cards are dealt at random over a million times and the 95% margin of error is shown. Equity is your share of the pot: the hands you win outright plus your share of split pots.

How to use it

  1. Tap a player’s slot and pick two hole cards. Add up to 10 players; any slot left empty is played as a random hand.
  2. Pick a flop, turn and river if you need them. With an empty board you get preflop equity.
  3. Each player’s equity and win and tie odds update with every card you pick. Tap a selected card again to remove it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between equity and win odds?

Win odds are how often you win the pot outright. Equity adds your share of split pots on top: half the pot when two players tie, a third when three do.

How often does AA beat KK?

All in preflop, AA wins about 81–82% of the time against KK, depending on the suits. KK wins roughly one time in five.

Is a coin flip really 50/50?

A pair against two overcards — QQ against AKo, for example — is about 57/43, so the pair is a small favourite. Enter both hands to get the exact number.

What is equity against a random hand used for?

It shows how strong your hand is on average when you don’t know what your opponent holds. AA, for example, has about 85% against one random hand, and less against every extra opponent.
